Railroad is one of the most common and popular ways of traveling from Moscow to Riga, Latvia’s capital with its rich history. Since the route is in great demand and transports large numbers of passengers, buying and booking your ticket online on our website in advance is advisable!
Total route length – ca 750 km, average travel time - 12-14 hours. Trains depart from the Rizhsky railway station, Moscow in accordance with the official schedule available on our website. In summer, the route is operated by an extended set of trains.
The route between the capitals is operated by Latvijas Expresis, a branded train, also known as L-Expresi. There are five seat types on offer:
● Double-berth compartments
Nine comfortable compartments are available, designed for two passengers, with berths on both sides of the table. Each compartment has a TV-set with a choice of three channels, extra lighting and air conditioning.
● Business class compartments
Every rail car has only 4 of them, each has a comfortable sofa convertible into a comfortable double bed. There is also an extra 84 cm long reclining berth, a compact table, a sleeper chair convertible into an extra bed, a luggage and clothes locker, a washbasin, local lighting, air conditioning, an audio system and a wide range of CDs on offer. There is also a shower cabin in each rail car.
● Standard class compartments.
The car has nine four-berth compartments, each having two lower berths and two upper ones, a table, extra lighting and air conditioning.
● Couchette car compartments.
The couchette car has 9 compartments with 6 berths - 2 upper and 2 lower ones facing one another, 2 side berths. There’s one standard table and one convertible into a lower side berth.
● Reserved seats in chair cars.
The car has 9 open sectors, each having 9 seats - 3 seats on the sides of the table in the main section, 3 side seats. Every side seat is convertible into a set of 2 seats and a table.
Every rail car has 2 toilets with washbasins, one compartment for the conductor, one service compartment.
